When mine said 1200 I found I was eating too far under, I only bumped it up to 1230 but I find I get a lot closer without getting freaked out about going over!0

I know what you mean. I always feel I have to be be under the calories, because it's impossible to get right on it. I think the problem is that MFP has 1200 as a minimum, but it's ALSO the recommended calorie amount. If you end up eating 1199, you're breaking the rules!
I'd do whatever works for you. Putting it up to 1250 so you can eat around 1200 and still be under is a great idea. What I have done is adjust my weight loss to 1/2 lb a week and that gives me more than 1200 calories. I try to keep in mind that I want the average to be around my goal rather than be under every time, so it doesn't matter if I go slightly over half the time. In practice, though, I worry that I overestimate food or underestimate exercise, so I still try to stay under.0 -

Half a pound a week is working for me.
And I allow myself leeway above the goal on occasion because I know I really have 250 Cals in there as a margin0 -
Most people can eat a lot more than that and loose very well from what I've seen on here so I wouldn't be worrying about a tiny 50 calories! It's insignificant. You could probably eat a few hundred more and loose perfectly fine.0

You're making too much out of this. If your goal is to lose 1lbs a week. That' 500 calories a day. You can eat anything under 1700 and lose weight. I highly doubt that's your goal though 1lbs a week, looks like 1.5 or 2lbs a week.
That can be 1,950 that you can eat under to lose weight if your goal is 1.5lbs or if it's 2lbs you can eat under 2,200 calories.

I think you can go up more than that. My goals are set at 1510 calories a day to lose 1 pound a week. I've been averaging a 2-pound weight loss per week when I net between 1200-1500 calories a day after exercise.0
