Fruit - when and how much...

I eat fruit everyday - monday-friday - not as much as I should on the weekends.

I typically eat all my fruit in one go in the afternoon as a small meal which comes to around 200-250 calories.

Is this the best way to consume it - or should I spread it out across the day one piece with every meal.

I know fruit contains a lot of sugar - so a lot of sugar in one sitting seems bad?

any suggestions be great...

I spread out my fruit throughout the day in small portions, like a banana at breakfast or an apple with lunch. Eating it in all one sitting I don't think really matters as long as you're within your daily calorie goal. And don't worry too much about the sugar in fruits and vegetables; from what I understand, those are natural and healthier sugars which are better for your body than what you find in processed foods.

not looking to restrict the amount - its the whether to eat them at different times of day...probably not that significant really - I count them in my calories and try to eat 5 fruit n veg. a day.

Think I'm gunna try n spread them out through the day - makes more sense to I think...

    Cheers guys..

Even though they are naturally occuring sugars as apose to the refined naughty ones, they still spike your BSL. So I would be inclined to spread it out and I try and limit my fruit intake to two pieces a day.

Oops sorry! In that case I would try it and see if it makes any difference to your apetite, if not then I wouldn't worry too much.

You are getting carbs from the fruit and your body NEEDS a protein source added each time you eat them. Just eating carbs or protein alone is hard on your body. The combination of protein/carbs with each meal and snack is key in getting your body to function at its best. I love fruit too and here are some ideas you can use to add a protein each time you enjoy your fruit...

    * 1/2 apple with all natural peanut or almond butter
    * almonds & grapes
    * 1/2 cup cooked oatmeal with 1/4 t. all natural peanutbutter, 4 chopped walnut halves, 1/2 banana & 1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder
    * your favorite fruit combination with 1 cup almond milk & 1 scoop vanilla or chocolate whey protein powder
    * 1/2 grilled chicken breast with cucumber & carrot (sliced thin) wrapped in a lettuce leaf & dipped into your fav dressing
    * grilled chicken salad with your favorite veggies and sliced strawberries or orange segments
*sargento all natural pepper jack cheese stick & grape tomatoes
    * blueberry yogart with chopped walnuts

    Hope this helps

blessed to be fit! you're making me hungry damn you ! haha! thanks very much! sounds good - I need to spread my protein out more across my meals defo!

normally get a protein shake for brekky after gym, then whatever meat is in my lunch sandwich or salad - then no protein till tea! but I'm always over my protein! normally by a long way - but meat is my favourite food by far!

    cheers people! good advice!
