Getting annoyed

Freaking crap. I had tator tots and some martinis on Thursday and then tat or tots and martinis again on Saturday. Thursday I didn't go over by much, but truthfully, I have no clue about Saturday. Yesterday I weighed and I'm up 5 pounds. 5 freaking pounds!!! I know some people will have a cheat day and eat WAAAYYY more calories than I did eating Mexican food or Cheesecake Factory and they won't gain that much. What the hell? Am I never going to be able to eat anything unhealthy or I'm going to instantly pack on the pounds? I'm frustrated and unhappy right now!

Drink a buttload of water and go work out. Unless you ate about 17,500 calories over maintenance you didn't gain 5 pounds. I'm a lush and would have a hard time drinking that many martinis (I mean, I could do it but it wouldn't be pretty). You'll pee it out in a couple of days.

I hear ya! I had a week like that this week. I ate pizza last monday....then I had a subway wrap yesterday, other than that its been home cooked meals, etc. Anyway, this morning for my weekly weigh in, I was up 1.4 pounds. It is annoying.

But I guess the important thing is to keep plugging away and give it your best. Here's to a better week for us next week!

You're just bloated. Give it a couple days and it will go down.

This, you are retaining water. Sodium gets me every time!!

Heck, I can gain 3 pounds in one party. As the others have said, it's just food and water. It leaves as fast as it comes.
  • The same thing happened to me. I fear a time when i'll be at my goal weight and ill feel great and i'll have a special meal and a beer or glass of wine and ill wake up 20lbs heavier the next day!!!!!!!! i try to put that thought in the back of my head but it is no fun to think about. I had a day last week where i had a cupcake with my son...and a cookie or two...and mac and cheese! WHAT?! i never even use to eat sweets before i started a clean diet. (my guilty pleasure is any form of bread or carb) But now all of a sudden i think about sweets all the time. Either way. i share your fear and we all get off track once in a while just bounce back from it with a positive attitude. Its getting back on the train thats the hard part, fallings easy. You'll be fine! :)

Sudden upticks like that aren't real weight gain but they ARE annoying. Just get back on track and it'll come back off.

There is no way you gained 5 lbs in fat, it's probably water weight. Get back on track, get enough water and it shouldn't take too long to take off. This is LIFE remember that, you can't deprive yourself of everything you love or you won't stick to it - it's about moderation.

    Keep your chin up!

    FIGHT THE FRUSTRATION!

I felt the exact same way! it could be a mixture of things. TOM approaching and water retention begins two weeks after the end of your previous cycle... Tator Tots and alcohol are both known to cause water retention. It is likely all water weight rather than WHAT you ate or the fact you "cheated". I have seen "cheating" go both ways for me. I about had a heart attack when I LOST 3 lbs on vacation while having the WORST diet possible and drinking for a week without really ahving any workouts besides A (single) morning walk. Then over a weekend where I attended a party I had a SMALL slice of cake and a beer and gained 4lbs over night...

Don't let this get to you. Wait on a continual pattern. MEanwhile also monitor sodium and the pattern you see regarding water retention when comsuming more/less of it...

I wouldn't think that you gained that much. It's probably water weight. I would drink a lot of water and exercise a lot. It should come back off.
