changing intake calories- carb sensitive?

I have been doing 1200-1300 cal a day for close to 4 months now. I have barely lost anything, like maybe 3 lbs. I eat veggies, I workout at least 3 days a week for 45 min (new mom here) with a 5 month at home that is hard to do. I am 14 lbs from my goal, pretty much have been since 6 weeks post partum. I switch up the workouts to keep my body working (cardio, interval workouts, wieght workout, pilates). I just cannot tighten up around the middle. I am begining to think that I am carbohydrate sensitive.
I'm upping my cal intake to 1400 and am going to focus on lean meats and veggie/fruits.
I tend to feel sluggish after eating carbs, heart rate increases, and i just crave them all the time. When I start to eat some I lose self control on my cheat days. I'm 144 lbs, 5' 4.5" and I would like to be 130 lbs (pre pregnancy weight).
ADVICE!

It really depends on the carbs you are eating. Are you eating complex carbs and whole grain? or white pasta and lots of sugar? Your body doesn't have to do as much work to break down the simple carbs.
Also, are you working out to your fullest? For those 45 mins are you staying mostly in your target heart rate zone? Thats were the calorie burn is!0 -
i pretty much eat all wheat, grew up eating that way. (much to my husband's dislike!). No white bread or pasta in the house. I don't have sweets in the house, don't eat desserts really ever. I have larger lunches than I do dinners usually, just feel beter that way. I also stop eating after 8 pm and sip on green tea most days. Just a life habit of mine.
I have a HRM to stay in zone, so yea I do. I'm sweating and out of breath for the workouts ( I was an athlete growing up and am still competative with myself). I haven't been able to work out as much as I used to since my Claudia Wren was born, but, I try.
Should I try to restart my metabolism some how? could i have damaged it?0 -
You may just need to be patient. You didn't mention if you are breastfeeding or not, but if you are, you might need to eat more. Hormones also play a huge factor and just take time to level back out.
ETA, on the other hand there is no reason that you have to have wheat products, so if they are making you lethargic, cut them out.0 -
ha, patience, what a novel concept, that I am not but always strive to have. thanks for the reminder on the hormones. I keep forgetting that my body is still leveling out with the hormones.0
