Can anyone 'splain this?

Okay, I've changed my routine/reporting methods. I dumped the Polar FT60, and have started using a Suunto T6D heart monitor, along with the Firstbeat program to keep track of "Training Effect", along with a myriad of other computations. So far, I'm truly impressed, although I am wondering about the different methods of tracking calorie burn.

For instance, today, I was shooting for a training effect of 2.5, and reached it. However, when the data was checked in the Firstbeat program, it shows the "energy expenditure" of 222 Kcal. The watch itself, shows 307 kcal, and the website for the Suunto Watch (Movescount) shows 366 kcal. I'm inclined to use the "Energy Expenditure" figure (222 Kcal) in the Firstbeat program, due to the depth of the analysis that is provided, but was wondering why such a wide range of numbers? Can anyone who's in this field, or is familiar with different methods of calculating this stuff let me know? It's not that important that I know, I'm just curious as to why the difference, and would truly like to know the actual method used for counting these calories.
Thanks to the pro's in advance
Steve

You might try some of the forums on the Movescount site. The T6d is in a different class than the HRMs that most people here are familiar with. While I have studied some of the research behind First Beat, I have no personal experience with these sites and they use some different methodologies.
