Icey Hot Workouts?

Since I work on a Navy Base I get to meet a lot of Military guys. While on break today, I sat behind 2 guys just getting finished with a run. They were talking about how the Navy man wore Icey Hot while running. The Army man asked why and the Navy man responded that it helped warm up the body faster and burn more calories.
I never got up the nerve to ask them about this topic because well, I'm just a fat girl and they're kinda hot Military men, lol.
But what do you think of this? Could this really work or is it one of those "a watched pot never boils" situations?

Icy Hot has no effect on calories burned and is an extremely ineffective way to warm up for exercise.0
