I am 5 ft 1 and 230 lbs. I am trying to lose weight (obviously) lol my calorie goal is set at 1200. i usually eat 50-100 cals under of course MFP tells me I am eating too few calories and could go into starvation mode which of course I won't loose. Should I really be tyring to stick to that 1200 or is 50-100 cals under ok? or shall we say better.

I am 5'5" and started at 165 and am now 150.5 and my calorie hold has always been 1200. That's why I'm always at the gym....0

some days I'm under, other days I'm over but I mostly go under and am losing weight....0

I wouldn't bother about being 50-100 cals under OR over. Everything we log is an estimate, so this kind of variation sounds OK to me.
The reason you get the message from MFP is that 1200 is generally recommended as a "safe minimum" calorie amount for adults. As you aren't very tall and have a bit of weight to lose, you can probably get away will eating at a minimum for a while, but you will probably want to increase your cals as you start to lose weight.
Bear in mind, that I'm sure you would still lose weight eating a bit more - it's important to find something that you can stick to for the long haul and that might not be 1200 cals.0 -
I'd stick with 1200 or a little bit over. because of your height and weight, you're already at such a deficit that it's better to stay on the high side.0
