Hello, I'm new at this. So I'm 17, and I weight 196 pounds, and I'm 5'11. I am overweight, and I need to lose weight.
What is the best way to lose weight If I barely have time to exercise? I'm planning to replace ALL my meals with Fruits/Vegetables.

Hope you we're kidding. You need the four food groups in your diet otherwise you might lose alot of weight but you probably will get sick. Please read some of the threads for beginers. They have helped me alot.0 -
I think you will find that only fruits and vegetables will not be enough to sustain you. A balanced diet is always the best way to go. You need to have fruits and vegtables, but also whole grains and lean meats and low-fat diary. That is the sustainable way to eat right. Any kind of a diet that you completely deprive yourself is not something you will be able to continue to do over a long period of time. Weight loss is all about a complete lifestyle change. If you want to lose weight and keep it off, you need to eat healthy and exercise whenever you can. You may want to find yourself some healthy eating and diet books. Bob Greene's books (Oprah's trainer) are great about healthy eating and lifestyle changes. There are also web sites from Gillian and Bob (from the Biggest Loser) and other real experts. Learn how to do this right, and it will last you forever! Good luck!0

I agree with what was said. I've done the vegetable thing when I was much younger and yes I had lost the weight very quickly but I was always tired and was not looking healthy. Also please remember that muscles need protein, by just eating fruits and veggies you might loose muscle mass. Someone explain to me one day how my body work. It's like us vs money. So you have less money (calories for the body), you will start spending less to be able to keep afloat. Your body will do the same, by cutting too much your body will go in starvation mode and protect every little bit of calorie that you will take in.
So as the other advised, please eat a little bit of all the good group, but focus on keeping the portions under control. This should be a long term change instead of just something you do quick and then go back to square one after.

If you feel strongly about focusing on whole foods and vegetables, I disagree that you need to eat meat and dairy--you can get more than enough protein by eating LOTS of green vegetables and plenty of varieties of beans, with some limited unprocessed whole grains thrown in. It's very low-fat, with plenty of protein and nutrients, and can be very filling. Add salsas and fruits to make things interesting; eat lots of warm vegetable soup. Just eating vegetables for every meal with nothing else, however, is just not going to make you healthy (and isn't that really the point?). You may feel hungry for a few days (and I had a killer headache), but then it just feels great! Make sure you hit that 1200 calorie minimum, though!0
