Help with foods

I went into the doctor and had my height & weight checked. I'm 5'5" which is normal, but my weight is 194.2 lbs. The doctor said she would like me to weigh no more than 150. I've given myself a goal I feel is reasonable: lose the weight by June of next year, which is graduation and a bunch of family is coming to town.
The issue I'm facing is foods. I'm a lot like my dad in that I tend to have to eat 6 small meals a day, or I feel sick. I've tried controlling this and it goes nowhere. My doctor knows and said it's fine, but only if the meals are healthy and I'm not overdoing it on snacks. I can't seem to keep eating good things long enough to keep the results going. It doesn't help that my mom gets on a baking streak every month and my willpower is low. She knows this but it doesn't matter and until I've saved enough money, I'm stuck here. I'll buy healthy foods but within a month, my willpower goes out the window and I can't stick to it no matter how hard I try.
I'm seriously considering Weight Watchers, but I really hate vegetables. I refuse to eat them in any form except V8 and the multivitamins I take.
Any suggestions? Should I try Weight Watchers? I'm really stuck and any suggestions are greatly appreciated

Put on your big girl panties, set a budget and stick to it. There's no magic formula or special diet or supplement that can do it for you. It's willpower and learning to be an adult. You don't have to eat vegetables to lose weight but maybe if you tried a few you might find something that you like.

I really want to be positive and give you some good advice but it just sounds like you don't want it bad enough. Everyone on this site has a struggle with will power.

You said you refuse to eat vegetables in any form? That's how my 4 year old niece sees it too. Try valley fresh steamers in your frozen food section. Maybe you can choke these down. Try some sweet potatoes too with a tablespoon of vegetable oil spread.

Also, until you are TRULY motivated, weight watchers or any other program for that matter just won't work. V8 is ok but it will never be a good substitute for actual veggies.

Vegetables aren't required for weight loss. Healthy food isn't either. You can lose weight eating nothing but junk, as long you keep a calorie deficit.

That said, you should try to give your body the nutrition that it needs if you are concerned about health. You're just going to have to decide if that aspect is important to you or not. I personally chose moderation - I eat as much healthy stuff as I feel like I can, and then I have some treats during the day too. I can eat fast food/restaurant food if I want it, but I just keep it within my calorie goal. Make good choices 80% of the time and your bad choices 20% of the time won't matter too much.

Meal timing shouldn't matter - it's personal preference. If you feel like 6 meals a day works for you, then go for it. I like to snack, so I eat a lot during the day. Some people like intermittent fasting. It's all personal choice.

As far as the veggies go - I used to think that I hated all veggies too. But I put on my big girl panties, learned to cook a few new dishes and found that I actually like some veggies (not all, but some): roasted tomatoes, roasted green beans, sweet potatoes, onions, peppers, mushrooms, spinach. Those are all staples for me. And I'm still trying new foods now and then to see if there are other things I like too. You just have to do it. Eating something you don't like won't kill you - and it only tastes bad for a few seconds. Surely, we can handle that right?

I think maybe you should have a heart to heart with your parents and really discuss getting healthy, maybe even as a family together. Any decent parent will listen to their kid and help them anyway they can..

As far a veggies go, it's time to learn some recipes and how to cook.

If the reason you cant stand vegetables is the texture, I recommend "hiding" them - steam/roast and puree them and add to soup, bolognaise, stew etc. If the reason is flavour - how about adding to strongly spiced foods, curry, chili etc where the flavour will be masked a bit. Do you feel the same way about fruit? You could focus on increasing that instead.

Calorie counting is completely suited to six small meals - and some say eating that way helps them because they dont get the swings in blood sugar after a large meal and therefore dont get so many cravings.

As the previous poster said we all have to put on "big girl panties" - love this, although my goal is to get them off and put "small girl panties" on :) - and try to choose the healthiest versions of the foods you do like. Good luck!
