Hi,
i know we all know "our stuff" regarding calories in and out, but how many of you out there are working with a nutritionist to assist you in attaining your goals with respect to exercise and diet as a lifestyle and approach?

I have been working with a nutritionist + weight-loss counselor + a personal trainer for about two months now, as part of a weight management program that my company provides. I have Skype chats with the nutrionist about once a month, and bi-weekly with the counselor. My nutritionist didn't put me on a restrictive meal plan, to my relief, but rather made a couple of subtle changes to my diet and approach to food. For example:

    1. Log everything you eat (which is where MFP comes in, of course).
    2. Calculate your BMR and then determine how aggressive you want to go about losing weight (again, MFP does this for me) to determine your daily calorie goal.
    3. Increase protein intake to 100-120g per day, and make sure and have some with every meal. Don't try and cram it all into a couple of meals, since your body can only absorb about 30g of protein at a time. Instead of having a pretzel snack in the afternoon, for example, she suggested I have peanut-butter filled pretzels, or trail mix or a protein bar (I like KIND bars).
    4. Eat 4-6x during the day, by having smaller meals and regular snacks.

So far, so good. Down 30 lbs. from my peak, and still steadily (if slowly) losing more.
