  • Hopefully something worth the last few weeks of self control because I am going to tear up some stuffing, mashed potatoes, pie and whatever else my mom decides to make this year.
  • Good for you! I should do a 5K, but in a town of 2000, they don't have that. Maybe I will make my own!

    Cornbread dressing
    Mashed taters
    Gravy
Green beans & corn on cob
Mustard greens (special for my daughter who loves them!)
    Homemade bread
    Homemade cranberry sauce
    Fruit salad
    Pumpkin, apple & pecan pie
    Pumpkin roll

(all desserts will be sugar free for the diabetics)

my favorite Tday food items are cornbread dressing and collards. Sometimes the turkey is amazing, other times just so so but seriously I can't wait for the dressing n collards!

What is your favorite must have holiday food/recipe

    Usually we do:

    roasted upside down turkey
    Cornbread sausage-sage stuffing
This amazing corn pudding made with loads of butter, corn, sour cream and onion- ermergerd
    garlic parm creamed potatoes
an adult green bean casserole- fresh beans rubbed down with coarse salt and olive oil, crisped in the oven, served with loads of carmalized onions and toasted almonds on top
white trash sweet potatoes, with marshmallows and raisins
    gravy made from pan drippings
    crescent rolls and butter

last year we did a salted caramel apple pie that was TDF.

lots of champagne, wine, beer, and a friend will bring appetizers, mac and cheese, bacon-wrapped water chestnuts...mmmm.

I think this year i may try a broccoli-cheese-rice casserole too.

    I'M HUNGRY NOW!

I'll NOT gorge myself, but have a taste/small portion of a bit of it all and a nice portion of the cornish hen. I'll also have a whole cookie and a small taste of the bean pie and a small piece of the banana nut bread. I'll log everything.
  • Usually it's just me & my wife so I gennerally throw a turkey brest on the grill or smoker along w/some veggies. But my parents are coming to visit so I'll be brining and roasting a whole bird this year. I'm planning on keeping the number of sides limited but yummy ... quality over quantity. Roasted veggies, sweet potatoes (baked or casserole, haven't decided yet), stuffing/filling/dressing (depending on where you are from) and gravy. I may give a farro salad a try too.

    The usual suspects...

    Turkey
    giblet gravy
    Stuffing
    Mashed potatoes
    Best ever green bean casserole
    Fresh cranberry sauce
Bread of some sort (really contemplating doing one from scratch which I've never tried before)
Corn (on the cob, niblets, or pudding, haven't decided yet)
My damn well ought to be famous candied bacon bourbon pecan pie
Some yet to be determined new experimental pie (do a new one every year)
Lemon cream cheesecake with fresh raspberry purée

Nothing diet, but this and Christmas are like my Super Bowl (as a chef how could it not be?!?) so screw a buncha dieting lol.

deep fried turkey (yeah I know but it makes it easier to use the oven)
    skinny mashed potatoes (skinny taste)
    Stuffing(working on the recipe)
    green chili corn bread
    roasted veggies (all food)
carrots (working on the best recipe)
    cheese biscuits (skinny taste)
    pineapple cranberry sauce

    Veggie tray for starters
    Dill pretzels for munching

Pies not sure people are bringing stuff... but I seen tons of nice recipes for different ones.
