A small NSV, and a question

I've just completed Cycle 1 of the Simple Beginners Routine*, and I am now stronger than I was before I started! I re-tested my 10 rep max** after this cycle, and compared the numbers to before I started. I know the weights themselves aren't great, but you have to start somewhere! And the improvement seems real! I've put on about 2-3 lb, but I'm not convinced that's all muscle.

Squats 115 lbs --> 146 lbs +27%
Bench Presses  68 lbs --> 86 lbs +26%
Bent-Over Rows  63 lbs --> 72 lbs +14%
Overhead Dumbell Presses  51 lbs --> 60 lbs +18%
Stiff-Legged Deadlifts  97 lbs --> 127 lbs +31%
Dumbbell Curls 56 lbs --> 62 lbs +11%

(Calf raises I do 16-24 reps with one 50 lb dumbbell - did not get a 10 rep max for them)

Now, I am using dumbbells for these lifts, and the weights are for the two. For my next cycle, I plan on doing 150 lb on the squats, which is a 75 lb dumbbell in each hand. My 10 rep max was with two 65 lb bells, for 15 reps. My legs could have done more, but I started losing my grip. So my question - should I get some straps*** to help me hold them, or do more reps at a lower weight? (I don't have an option for barbells right now, but am looking into that for the future).

Thanks.

    Nice progress. Yes, get straps to help you safely hold the weight and not be limited by your grip

    Well, I did Day 1 of Cycle 2 today without straps. 2 sets of 8 reps. Managed 150 lbs (two 75 lb dumbbells) on the squats just fine, but felt my grip going at the end of the deadlifts (120 lb = 2x60).

    I am going to have to get a barbell though, as those squats are with my gym's heaviest dumbbells. And I know I can do more!
