First off, welcome. Second, generally weight loss doesn't mean improving your self image. You have to work that separately.

Now to weight loss. Don't try to lose too fast and concentrate on fat loss, not weight loss. With only about 20 lbs to lose, you can only aim to lose about .5 lb per week (sucks doesn't it); you might be able to lose 1 lb per week if you are lucky. Second, if you aren't weight training, do that at least 3 days a week and make it heavy so you fail before 10 reps. You will see good fat loss, maintain your lean muscle mass and maintain your metabolism. Also, add in a few days of cardio just for heart health. On top of that, work on getting lean whole foods (plenty of lean meats and fish) as well as fruits and veggies.

Welcome! I am getting back on the horse- as it were!

I have a very large mirror in my hall way. Great for making the hallway appear larger... not so good for my self esteem and making me feel good about my appearance!!
I *often* dislike how I look, esp. with little clothing on, so I dress very conservatively! (covering up!)

Using this program is good to help you track what you eat, and what exercise you do.
Dont expect to be a pro with MFP instantly, but have a look round and give it ago at setting up your profile and tracking!

Make some time, every day (or at least 3 times a week) to do some moderate exercise if you are not so fit, or pump it up a gear and train harder if you are already exercising.
Dietwise: Make small changes. Small steps are easier to maintain than massive slash n dash ones!

    Ill add you.
You can message me if you need anymore ideas :)

Cheers and good luck with your journey :)

YOu've already gotten some excellent advice! Start with small changes, clean up your diet little by little. THen you are more likely to stick to the changes.

As far as exercise start with something you like and do it more often. I started by walking my dog, then I started jogging, I did some work out DVD's and now I've added strength training to the mix as well. JUst start small and build on it.

Another important one, find some supportive, motivating people to help you. Feel free to add me if you like. Days when I feel down or unmotivated seeing what all my MFP friends are doing helps inspire me to get moving or to put down the junk food.

    Welcome to MFP!
  • WOW!!
I am overwhelmed at the amount of responses, messages and friend requests.
Thank-you all so much for being so helpful, caring and for listening and helping
It means a lot I am glad I joined MFP and to receive such support!!
