Also, do you brush it off like it didn't happen, or try to work your tush off the next day ?

Well, I've been over about 1400 calories. I had a poor little me day and ate like a pig. Paid for it too. It made me sick0

A few times I have been between 1,000-1,200 over, but generally no more than 300 on the days I have gone over. I don't stress it, and I don't generally exercise any extra, I just continue with my normal routine the next day.0

Last Friday I was 2500 over. Had a bad day, ate like c**p and didn't worry about it. I did go on an unplanned bike ride the next day though and ended up 2000 in the green that day so it kinda made up for it. Usually I don't worry too much if it's less than 500 over since that's my planned deficit, and I only have myself to blame if I don't lose that week.0

Recently; easily over 3000, maybe getting on for 5000 I reckon.
In the past, heading on for 10k I reckon.
Do try and get back on track a bit these days.
Today I haven't done so well (eaten at about TDEE I reckon, but probably see some gain on the scales anyway, definitely HAVE to make an effort tomorrow.)0 -
Probably 2000 calories, to be honest. During celebrations, or even just hanging out with my sisters, we'll have cupcakes or something and it's out of control. But hey, sometimes it happens. What's important is what you do one day at a time.0

The most epic was 4200 over. SOOOOO worth it
it was just another day to my food journal.0 -
I once stopped logging at 7,000. I think i was around 4000 over.0

Well yesterday I was 1,555 over and 5,000 over for sodium.0

About 1500-1600. I crave salty snacks and cider...0

Some days I'm over @300 some I'm under @2500 (that was a 12 mile/20km hike) I average over a week so for me it's not a big deal. I just eat less the next day or 2.
It's not a race, if you have a bad day all you can do is try to make better choices the next day. Eventually you change one little thing at a time and find that your diary doesn't look so bad (just don't look at mine for this week - the Halloween candy is gone now thankfully!) As long as the trend is towards eating 'better' then you will eventually lose weight - sometimes it just takes a little more patience.0 -

LOVE IT!!!! That's awesome. I was 1,500+ over one day last week and probably close to that yesterday (haven't logged my halloween candy yet). But definitely start over the next day. It's only one day.
Think of it this way. One pound is 3500 calories. If you are eating at a 500 deficit every day, you would have to eat 7000 calories above your daily goal to gain a pound. Do I sweat being over a couple hundred? Absolutely not. Do I try to be under by about 200 the day following, sure. But I don't beat myself up or throw in the towel.
BTW -- I eat 2000-2100 per day anyway. This girl loves to eat. And lose fat. WORD!0 -
4557 over, 5 days ago. 7586 on the day. Cheat day0

How the hell ....:noway:
the most I think I'e been over is 2000 - I just don't eat my workout calories back for the rest of the week.0
