Natural Appetite Suppressant?

The one thing I haven't been able to quit when I started calorie counting was my coffee.
I've given up the frilly stuff, of course. I use a quick powder quick mix. The way I make it, it's 100 calories and 10 grams of sugar for a cup and a half, which I'm willing to live with. Last week, however, I ran out and forgot to get some from the store. I decided to just wait for the next grocery outing, which ending up being a week later.
After the caffiene withdrawal headache resided (I drink only water and two servings of this stuff each day.) I realized that my appetite had changed. While I definitely enjoyed being able to snack a little bit more, I was constantly thinking about when the next time I could eat would be. Snacks just left me craving for more. Then, a few days ago, I got the cappuccino mix back. The cravings immediately subsided. Without this stuff, I was craving within two hours after my last meal. With this stuff, I was good for about four to six hours, and even then I didn't have much of an appetite.
While I've always heard caffiene was an appetite suppressant, I've never really believe it. After all, back when I drank nothing but soft drinks, I craved food like crazy. Other foods that are labeled as suppressants have never really affected me. So what's the deal? Is the cup and a half of water just filling my stomach more? If I really am being affected, (not complaining here!) why now?
