Advice on diet?

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone can help me out to give me any advice on my diet? I thought I was doing great until I was advised that my carb intake is a little too high for steady weight loss...
I'm type 1 diabetic so I can't gototally carb-free but any alterations to my current diet would be greatly appreciated!
I feel a bit down today because a girl at work has lost nearly 2 stone in as many months just by not drinking and running 20 mins a day... Granted she had a lot more weight to lose than myself but it's still got me down! It has also dawned on me that I need to lose 20 lbs to reach my goal weight... It sounds like so much to lose - and I don't feel like I could up my exercise any more or cut down on food cos I'm already always hungry! I need to re-educate my brain into not being obsessed by food, but when I'm constantly counting carbs for insulin it's difficult to change my frame of mind.
I am naturally fairly heavy as I played rugby for years and still have all my solid muscle mass (which I'm not complaning about!!)
Any suggestions for changes would be great
Thanks!

Try changing your macros around (carbs, fats, proteins) you might have to try a couple different splits, but I checked out your diary maybe try 35%carbs, 25%fats and 40%protein? You can go into your goals under the home take and go in and change your percentage.
Also don't let someone else’s good news get you down, use it as motivation. You can do this and you even said yourself she had a lot more weight to lose so naturally she is going to lose more at a faster rate in the beginning. Never let someone else’s happiness get you down. You will get there.0 -
Rick Gallop GI Diet is really good eye opener on what carbs you should be eating (Complex) especially good if you're diabetic. I try to stick to his way of eating & track it all on here. I used to try & avoid carbs, but never lost weight, I eat loads brown rice now & the weight is coming off a pound a week, pretty much every week :-)0

As for comparison with a colleague, yes larger people will shed more but interestingly my wife and I are on diets (she on RC, me on calorie counting) iver the last couple of months i have lost just over 2st (29lb) and she has lost just under a sone and a half (19.5lb) interestingly we have both lost 10.1% of our original starting weight. So it depends on what you are compairing, on pure poundage yes I am shedding more but percentage wise we are the same.
As for carbs, can't really offer too much advice as i'm not that clued up, but have you thought about things like danish style bread, I know it's half the calories per slice of standard bread so guess would be reduced in carbs too.0 -
I'm not that familiar with type 1 diabetes but could you ask your doctor or nutritionist for a healthy weight loss diet for you? My only advice is to get your carbs from vegetables, fruit and whole grains rather than from overly processed grains and added sugar.
For most people it is the type of carb that causes problem, rather than the amount. Though, again, I don't know if type 1 changes that rule.0
