I started the shred about a month ago now. At first I was very diligent about following a strict schedule with it. I am now on Level 2 and have been for about 2 weeks... I don't do it every day anymore however. It served as a REALLY great motivator and starting point for me to get me moving, but now I've started to create my own workouts and am doing the shred every few days.
In addition, I've always hated running, but as I can't bike very much now (ice, cold, snow, canada), I am really motivated to start. I've never been a runner and I've never been able to last long when running. I can do a quick run around the neighbourhood for ten minutes and come back dying and with a terrible stitch in my side - hating every minute of it.
SO ANYWAYS, I decided to start running on the treadmill 2 nights ago and was going to follow the couch 2 5k routine. I did my 5 minute brisk warm up walk and then started in on my first 60 seconds of running. When 60 seconds felt like a piece of cake, I kept running. I ended up not stopping for the remainder of my 20 minutes on the treadmill before getting kicked off by someone else at the gym.
Last night when I went, I ran my 20 minutes again and then, because no one was waiting this time, went for another 8. I was sweaty yes, but not nearly close to dying. (EDIT to say that yes, I probably was going slower than most of the runners here, but this is still a pretty long time to jog at any speed with no prior running experience, I believe)
The only thing I can think of is that the 30DS and the fact that my heart rate is up continually during that whole work out and the cardio contained therein has made me stronger in the cardio department? I am so exhilarated and can't WAIT until the next time I get to run again.
