Fitness Competition & Nutrition

Hi there,

It has always been a goal to be able to enter a figure/fitness competition before I turn 40. My biggest issue is my nutrition. I know that I’m going to need to do a total over haul on my nutrition. Can anyone recommend any informative books or websites for some solid nutrition plans?

I'm also looking for supportive peeps!

Thanks!!!

I use a fairly clean paleo/primal diet most of the time and then do a Whole30 just prior to competitions. It works wonders and then carb cycling is a nice trick to use as well.

I studied dietetics.. and am currently planning my own path to the stage (Fall 2013). I had a baby at the end of May so I've been in overdrive to drop fat and maintain muscle mass (going well thus far) but my plan is a little different than most because I'm breastfeeding (and will be until June of next year) and I have to work twice as hard to get fat off my trunk (where my body holds it for dear life to make hearty breastmilk).

I'm currently interval fasting (14-10).. and consume a LOT of protein (1.5 g per lb of LBM, mod fat (.5g/lb of LBM, and few carbs (which are reserved for post workout-an adaptation of carb backloading). I'm more than willing to help with any questions etc, and I already sent a friend request to support/encourage each other! :-)

I'm 5'10.5 with a goal BF% of about 15% (but we'll see when I get there what needs to happen with that as each body is different) :-)

Will happily help if you need - it can become a bit much if I take too many people on - dieting body builders are an extremely moany, tired moany bunch and become tiring to deal with too many all at once! LOL

I'll send you a message. I can relate to body builders being moany and tired... ha...my trainer/good friend is a bodybuilder and he is something else when training for a competition. It's interesting to say the least.

I have the nutrition part down.. and the training for the most part. What I need is a progress checker- I had a friend lined up who is a trainer and has competed, but he's married and hit on me the last time I saw him so it's a bit out of comfort zone to have him to pinch the fat on my butt and thighs and tell me to get rid of it.
