net calories vs total calories

if i'm told that i need to eat 1400 calories a day to lose 1 lb per week, does that mean i need to eat 1400 calories every day TOTAL (even with a 2 hour sports practice that burns about 275 calories) or i have to eat a net of 1400? does "eating back" exercise calories hurt?

The 1400 from Myfitnesspal (MFP) does not include your exercise calories. If you exercise, those calories would take a reasonable calorie deficit into a huge one. That is why you are supposed to eat your exercise calories here. That is how MFP works. It is different from other sites that include your intended exercise calories in your calorie goal so you don't have to eat them back as you already would be.0

So glad you posted on this topic because I was wondering as well. So if I am doing Insanity every day and not loosing it is because I am not eating a net that is where I need to. Most days my net puts me below 1,000. Which means I am not loosing because my body is probably in starvation mode? Also really I don't need to eat them back completely because MFP estimates are higher than I am possibly burning. I just need to eat a healthy amount of calories?0
