Cleaned out my frig!

Yeah! Job needed to be done. So need to go shopping and stock up on yogurt, eggs, chicken, salmon, salad greens. I am thinking of putting my veg in baskets on the doors in hopes that I won't forget to eat them. The crispers are just great hiding places. Any tips on how you organize your frig to actually eat all the healthy stuff we are now eating?

ALl that is in mine now is healthy stuff, so I don't really have a system. Except my veggie bins are not big enough to hold all the fresh veggies we buy, so there are veggies pretty much everywhere!

We're trying to slow reduce the amount that we spend at the grocery store, which means there's never so much food in the refrigerator that we don't eat it all.

Oh, except a salad from 2 days ago got limp and was turning brown around the edges. Too bad; we were going to eat it last night!

You are definitely doing it right.... 105 lbs!!! You rock! And yes... I find that I buy too much at once and have veggies everywhere but don't always use them in time. I so need to plan my meals better or buy less at a time and go to the store more often.

Thanks kjjm08! It cropped half of the pic off... but you all get the idea. The other doors have a ton of salad dressings on one shelf... butter that has NEVER lasted sooo long before on the top shelf. I used to buy one lb a week. New it's maybe once a month if that.... maybe two.

I still live with my parents so I don't have total control. But I get a shelf and a drawer and I go shopping only once a week and only get what I need for the week. Everything else in the fridge I don't touch becaue I don't really know what's going on there haha. But I don't have an issue with food going bad, which means I don't waste money because I do Sunday afternoon grocery shopping.
  • I got to figure out how to do that. My family is like we are not on a diet. I told them it's not a diet just some lifestyles changes. It's funny the things they are calling diet foods they seem to love them.(lol)

That's the best way. When my wife and I started, we cleaned everything out of our fridge and pantry/cabinets as well. Donated what we could, tossed out what we couldn't, and started fresh.

It makes it SO much easier to maintain what you eat and buy. We know exactly what we have, how long it'll typically last, etc.

Tried the pic for you. I don't think it worked though. Looks good though. I know I just cleaned my fridge out. I try to do main shopping Friday/Saturday. So by Wedneday/Thursday, my fridge looks pretty empty

Nothing like a week-long power outage to get you to clean the fridge! Thanks to Sandy, mine was clean last week.

I feel for you all dealing with Sandy. We live in Texas and hurricanes are nothing to sniff at. Thankfully, we don't have snow and 30 degree weather to contend with after. So glad your power is back! Have fun restocking! Way to thing positively!
