Hello MFP peoples! I am new to this website, and I must say it is a God send. Just Monday, I tried to get back on track with my weight loss goals, needless to say I have had many failed attempts, and even did a few "fad" diets, cleanses, and juices, but none of them gave me the results I wanted (which I knew they wouldn't) But now, I am more focused on eating right and working out and doing it the right way. But many MANY times during the day, I find myself wanting to binge on candy or a soda or grab a burger on the way home.
I find it difficult to fight the midday munchies and also the "on the way home meal," which is always fast food.
Before I found MFP and the message board, I tell you, I would have given in to the bad cravings already, but everytime I crave..I log in, and browse the forums for support and motivation and transformation pictures.
So I just wanted to say THANK YOU MFP for being here when it's needed most

I was in the same boat 3 weeks ago. I had the munchies in the evenings after supper, especially on the weekend. I too tried the diet pills and shakes LOL I just got more hungry and lazy. I started MFP about less than two weeks ago and learned how to eat right, eat foods that do not make you hungry for more, more engergizes to work out. I learned how to balance it all after a few mistakes. 1 big mistake was starving myself for a day then tryin to work out (augh I got sick and hungry then went a binge lol). But I learned to eat right, snack right, and go to bed at a descent time so I wouldn't be diggin in the fridge. I still struggle, heck last night went to the Convenience store and wanted to buy pop chips etc....but left asap lol. I try to leave water bottles in my car, desk, all over the house so Im not driking soda (I love coca cola), also cut out coffee and switched to tea.
I too long on to browse forums to get my motivation back lol, I've lost 2 lbs and do not want to see that number again, although there was a poin in my life where I didnt think I would lose any lbs LOL
Feel free to add me!0 -
I actually have a little bottle of coke sitting my fridge just CRYING for me..lol. I've been doing the same, bringing numerous amounts of water bottles and apples to eat when I get hungry. Right now, since I am in the early stages of weight loss, I don't want to cut out too much, but I'm just the type, when I do something, I do it to the full extent, so as a result I just set myself up for failure. I will do good for about a day or two, and then binge for a week, and the curse at myself for looking the way I do. But I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has these struggles, (even though sometimes I feel that way)
and thank you! I have requested you0 -

Or trail mix, low fat yogurt, even low cal cereal with fruit, and skim milk....lots of fruit and vegetables help. the right Granola Bars too, which Im still tryna figure out for myself since they are all different LOL

I think the EXACT same thing everyday. MFP is now my crack. It's such a positive motivator and I love it! Thanks everyone.0 -
I "read" a bit of myself in your comment about going the full extent and setting yourself up for failure.
That is me - I go hardcore, right out of the chute, and then - I hit "burnout" and I stop caring, because it's easier, because it's comfortable, because I'm too drained to try.
I also have very strong emotional reactions and attachments to food and I am working, slowly, on changing those, and pausing before biting off something I don't really need. Finding running has really helped...I'm doing my best to take the learn to run program slowly so I don't set myself up for failure and give up completely.

Grab some sugar free candy and have one when you get that craving, it'll satisfy you. Also, NUTS are a great way to sustain. Eat protien early in the day and it also helps a ton. WATER WATER WATER!!! I never believed until now.0 -
