Well, there isn't really a best ones... there are many and they all are great. Crunches, sit ups, lying leg rises, hanging leg rises, bicycles, etc, etc. Just google those names and you will get the idea of how to do them. There I found a couple of good video examples in YouTube for you:

  • Crunches
    Leg Raises
    Oblique Raises
    V Ups
    Decline Sit ups
    Medicine ball twists
    Bicycle abs
    Woodchops

Once you get good can start throwing in some weight crunches, weighted leg raises and my favourite.. dragon flags :)

Everything that everyone else said but some sort of cardio is good for burning belly fat too.

Search "8 minute abs" on youtube. It'll change your life.

The "best" exercises are the ones you enjoy and the ones you'll do consistently!

I spent ages forcing myself through workouts I hated because I thought they were "better" for me, but I ended up dreading the gym (esp. abs!) and eventually quit.

Then a month or so later I decided I was just going to do the exercises I liked and I've made great progress since then! Just try a bit of everything and after a few sessions you'll find out what feels best for you.

    My abs work out:
    - Crunches
    - Bicycle crunches
    - Flutter kicks
    - Double crunches
    - Leglift/hip raise
    - Hanging leg raises

    x12 reps x8 sets.

my fave is bicycles but there are tons of good ones on youtube! here is a set of three good exercises from jillian michaels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZ6FB5UJ5Uk. i love medicine ball twists on a BOSU but you probably don't have that stuff at home. watch some vids so you get your form right and don't hurt your neck when doing crunches.
