Finally found what I was looking for ...

This is going to come as no surprise to a lot of you, however to those that are unaware I hope this helps. I eat bread like most of us but since all this calorie counting I only recently realised how many calories were in the standard sliced bread, but having seen a comment on here I went in search of Hovis Nimble. It took a while but I found it eventually and I must say it is awesome, tastes so good if not better than standard sliced bread and at only 52calories per slice you can't go wrong and 75p from most leading supermarkets lol.

Anyways that's it, have a wonderful day all.

PS: If anyone else has any foods which they realised are higher in calories than first thought but know of an alternative share with us :)

Cheers

Where'd you find it, Ed? And is it normal sized or waste of time sized?

I've just assumed you're in the UK, but you may not be. But I hope you are.
  • Nimble! I used to eat that when I first went to England, then lost the ability to enjoy it when I found out it was a diet bread. :grumble:

I suppose my contribution would be little pottles of yoghurt. No surprise to anyone here, I'm sure, but most of them are only 100 or so calories, maybe 125 for a nice creamy strawberry one. How can something so delicious and reasonably good for you be so inexpensive, calorie-wise?

    Ello there,
Indeed I'm in the UK and I found it in Asda and I believe Tesco do it. It's 400g so not bad actually. For the price that it is it's worth a shot.

Haha if you didn't know it was a diet bread I bet you'd still be eating it lol. Over here there's a Happy Shopper extremely creamy yoghurt (apricot best) and that's like 137cal :)

Wish i could find somethinglike that here in Canada. the losest ive found is Weight Watchers bread which is about half the calories per slice...mainly cause a slice is half the thickness of regular bread. Impossible to use, i find. Anytime i try to spread something on it, it tears. Fine enough if your just slapping bread and meat together. However, i can't handle such a dry sandwich. mustard is about the only thin i can put on it. (not a ketchup on sandwich fan)

Don't you have a Wallmart or Tesco nearby, they should have it. Well maybe.

I know exactly what you mean. I'd actually prefer to buy substantial bread that has more calories, and cut back elsewhere during the day. Works for me because I only have it a couple of times a week anyway.

I was surprised at how well this bread held up when spreading Mayo, admittedly it's not butter but I think it could handle it.

I didnt like it cause when i toasted it, it broke when i tried to put butter on it, then everyone kept asking me what diet i was on cause I was eating it

Never did well for my sandwiches either :(

Normal slice of bread folded in half now !

I found some in Sainsbury's this morning then realised I'd already tried one of the other Hovis breads that only has 50-ish calories per slice and found it slightly lacking. So back to the high cal stuff for me!

I love heiners 35 and nickels 35. I cant tell a difference between those and wonder bread. Just half the cals.
