And the metabolism subject has been bugging me here for way too long, too.

People today seem to be obsessed crazy about metabolism ... "oh mine is too slow", "oh she is lucky, hers is fast".

There is no scientific evidence whatsoever that would confirm the existence of starvation mode or that one person's metabolism can SIGNIFICANTLY slow down or speed up. small changes in metabolism happen on a daily basis and it's not NEARLY big enough to justify any weight loss or weight gain.

Instead, there is effective metabolism and not so effective metabolism. Which is easily measured by (excuse the gruesome topic) how many times you go to the loo and what is the quality of what comes out,

But this isn't the point I wanted to make. It's the whoel "you must eat breakfast, you must eat breakfast" religion that seems to be everywhere, and it's the biggest and stupidest pile of dieting rubbish EVER.

You should eat IF AND WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY. Whether its breakfast, lunch or dinner. If you wake up and you fancy a coffee, have a coffee. If you fancy a fry up, err.. have that (but pay attention to your calories the rest of the day ;)). If you dont want to eat, dont eat! If you want a mix of protein and fibre and whatnot, have that. It alone will not "kickstart" your metabolism, it will not make you a size zero, it will not help in any way, shape or form, if you are doing something your body doesn't want to do!!! If you are not hungry, then for the love of god, dont eat just because someone on the internet tells you that it kickstarts your metabolism and other kinds of rubbish!!! Your metabolism is always running. If all you fancy is a flavoured latte, then a flavoured latte is the only thing that will make you happy and content with food.

Same thing with the whole "eat 6 times a day but small portions" shenanigans.

For Gods sake, people. this is why MFP is not a diet, this is why this is the only thing that works long term, because it focuses on the simplest truth of all: IN ORDER TO LOSE WEIGHT YOU JUST NEED TO EAT LESS. Ie, less calories. It doesnt matter if you eat it all for breakfast, or spread it by eating 60 cals every hour.

Eat healthy, eat good quality, eat what pleases you, and eat a bit less. That's ALL you need to lose weight. Seriously.

Hope it was useful, i am sure some people will jump at me with rage and keep advocating their metabolism religion, i just really needed to get it off my chest. Good luck to everyone!!! x
