HIIT training success?

I'm almost at my goal weight now, I have lost 6.4lbs in the last twelve weeks(lol it's not alot for some but when you're petite it's a big deal!), I have 9.4lbs to goal but if I maintain my weight but lose inches, I'll definitely be more than happy with that. I'm short so every single pound really shows, but I don't feel I look any different. I'm wondering if 2x week HIIT training can help me shed some serious inches, does anyone have any experience with HIIT?

How long a session would you plan to do twice a week? I would try to incorporate some other exercise too on other days, doesn't have to be long/too time consuming....maybe more walking or cycling than usual, swimming, weights, maybe even a little yoga twice a week as well as HIIT.0

It'd be 20 minutes, and I would walk 40 minutes on the days in between the sessions.0

I'd say try HIIT 3 times a week, maybe more if you are relying solely on that and walking alone. If you're walking briskly then that's great too.0

Okay that's great thank you for all your help:)0

Most of my weight loss is thanks to HIIT, though many people in my program have been doing it a long time and having lost a lb. The key with HIIT is building muscles and strength. If people are trying to LOSE weight and don't pair it with a stellar diet and/or a few cardio sessions on the side- you won't see results on the scale. You body WILL change after time, but additional muscle mass may not satisfy your need to see the lbs go down.
It is one of those things, results aren't instant. It took a full month of 5-6 days/wk for me to REALLY see results.
5 months in now, relieved I went that route. My inch loss is far more impressive than the lbs and I feel strong! It isn't for everyone though stick with it for a bit to give it a good run...0 -
If ur a runner u shouldn't do HIIT more than 2x a week and run/walk or do other cardio exercises the rest of the week. HIIT is also very helpful to gain some speed with running or jogging. I sometimes go weeks without doing HIIT, but when my weight loss slows or halts I do HIIT to boost my metabolism.0

Did the OP state somewhere that she was a runner?0 -

How tall are you? 92lbs seems really tiny. I hope you are taking care of yourself and eating nourishing food.0

Good. Sorry, the mom was coming out in me. And I love HIIT. I have a Tabata video that I do that is killer but I feel great after it is done. I would also say maybe three days a week.0 -
I only do HIIT for cardio - 20 minutes on the treadmill - 2 min warmup walk, 1 min moderate jog (6.5mph), 30 seconds sprint (9.0mph) and repeat for 20 minutes. I only do this 2x a week to keep up on my conditioning. The rest of my workouts consist of weight training.0

Here is a really good article on breaking down HIIT for you.

This is a very good suggestion. Weight training will get you the inch loss that you are looking for in a way that nothing else will. HIIT can help bring done body fat percentage and improve your endurance in every day life. If you have to pick one, pick weights, especially since you are doing cardio (walking) on your other days.0 -

DavPul,
What's with the sarcastic question?? At tthe time she neither said she didn't say whether or not she was a runner. She asked for advice and I answered with my opinion that IF u r a runner.... I'm so sorry if I offended u or anyone else.
Have a good weekend0 -
Sorry started typing one thing and changed it in the middle. Once again sorry if offended...0
