Question on measurements

I took my first measurements on Oct 15. Since then I have lost about 6 pounds (I am 5'2" and started at 210 lbs). I am down 0.5 in on my waist, 1 in on my hips, 1 in off my chest and 0.5 in from my thigh. Is this kind of change typical? A lot? Less than you would expect? My calf, my neck and my arm measurements didnt change. Any thoughts or insight would be great.

Personally i think any downward change is excellent. Everyone will be different on this one because of different body shapes etc. Weirdly i've not lost any weight at all but when i retook my measuremetns they were all down a bit - so that inspired me to keep at it.
From my experience the loss in inches will 'seem' small but actually it is the fewer inches around our waist/hips/bum etc is what we're all here for - and actually although we all measure in lbs we just want to look/feel slimmer and thats where the inches count.
Stick with it - i think your losses will be spot on for you - but don't get obsessed with them - perhaps once a month redo them to see how far you have come0 -

I am no expert but I would say it depends on your activity level and what you're eating as to whether its typical too little or too much... with me I lost about the same amount in my first month working with a trainer and no weight loss (my BMI went down though by a full 2%) my clothes fit different too so I'm not as worried about the scale not moving. I think every person is different though. BTW I am 5'0" and started at 164 in Feb I'm down to 150 but that was before MFP and working with a trainer.0 -
The body can be funky about what fat it burns when, but around the middle is usually where the most fat is, so it makes sense that it would go there first. I know my calf and arm measurements haven't changed much at all compared to my waistline.
Sounds like things are working they way they should, so just keep on doing what you're doing.0 -
i think that's pretty normal. everyone's body will change differently though. i lost 10 lbs and saw -2 on my waist, -1 on bust, -1 on hips, and -1 on thighs. keep at it!0
