Can I connect to my home broadband on my phone?

This is probably a silly question, but I am silly when it comes to technology. :embarassed:

I'm going to get a new phone iphone 5 or Samsung Galaxy S111...still can't choose!

I live in an area with 2g only, so very slow if any internet via phone. :grumble:

Would I be able to connect to my home broadband using my phone so I can get a decent internet connection/spped when at home and then use the mobile connection when out and about?

Thanks for your help

Any carrier would not only prefer you to, but if you have WiFi at home, the phones will try automatically to connect to the WiFi to save battery and make faster data speeds.

Just need to be broadcasting WiFi at home, and have your password for logging into it.
Once done it'll do it automatically.

Exactly what they said! I have "service" issues with my provider here inside my home, and I have my phone set to auto-connect when I come within range of my WIFI. It is amazing the battery life I get now as long as I am connected to it, as well as the service I get from it. Technology amazes me sometimes!
