Detoxing?

Happy Friday wonderful MFP peeps!! Quick question for you...how do you decide if you need to detox? And if so, what does that involve?? Just wondering b/c I have been working out 4-5 times a week and logging my food for over a month now with no loss :( Trying not to get discouraged, and just wondering if detoxing would help? idk....Ideas???

Given normally functioning liver and kidneys you do not need to detox or cleanse, at all.

And if so, what does that involve??

It may involve drinking a bunch of blended up vegetables, it may involve wasting money on a useless product from an MLM type of system, it may involve limiting your food intake to an arbitrary list of items that has no rhyme or reason to it.

It WILL involve creating a large caloric deficit and it will probably involve a lot of toilet paper.

If you have not lost anything in a month I would examine your total calorie and macronutrient intake and I'd start by suggesting that you purchase a food scale and measuring devices and take the next month to weigh and measure EVERYTHING to minimize tracking errors.

EDIT: And your thread may indeed earn you PM's from people on MFP who will then tell you that I don't know what I'm talking about, followed by their website where they will gladly sell you a product that will cure your weightloss woes!

    2) do you have kidneys? Y or N

if Y to 1) and 2) goto 3) else see doctor immediately

    3) do your kidneys and liver work? Y or N

if N to 3) goto doctor immediately else YOU DO NOT NEED TO DETOX

Thanks for the responses!! Since I do have well functioning kidneys and a liver I guess I will stop looking into the detox idea :) That is why I asked!

Good for you for listening to something that may not have been what you wanted to hear. Stick around here for a while and you'll see plenty of cases where someone will ask for an opinion and arbitrarily reject answers that they don't like.

Maybe I'm wrong here - but I try and keep my NET calories around 1200 a day. So on the days I burn 400 or 500 calories exercising my calories are going to be up around 1600 or 1700....am I wrong in my methodology here?

No, but be careful that you are not over estimating your exercise calories or under estimating your input...
