Nope never heard of it either.

I took a sneaky peek at your diary and can not see where the vitamin D is going in there?

I hope you forget `diets` and look at some of the success stories and menus on here that you can follow to help you get to where you want to be :-)

    Dr. Oz talked about it

People at work were talking about it as well, I was just curious if there was any knowledge of it in the boards here. I've not been on it.

Well then, if the Great and powerful Oz talked about it, must be true

Truth be told any diet can melt away fat as it is the calorie deficit that does so, not eliminating special foods, combining foods in a magical way or anything else

We don`t have dr oz over here, but from what I have heard he just promotes a lot of stuff to make money for himself? A bit like a lot of the TV preachers that have mega bucks

Stick to MFP free advice and go with the cals in cals out :-)

That link is blocked, but is this an actual "diet" as in eating foods that provide enough vitamin D? Or just a recommendation to take vitamin D?

I take a supplement on days I'm not going to be in the sun, which is a lot of days. And while I have had weight loss success, I don't think the D had much to do with it.

OP: Please note the bold. Energy deficit + reasonably intelligent macro sufficiency + a bit of common sense with food selection and you will do VERY well. I guarantee it.

    Disregard Oz and his quackery.

What? Stand in the sun to eat your meals?

I saw an episode of Wife Swap where this hippy woman sat in the sun all day to "eat" the sun energy. Beyon that she'd just eat some veggies an be satisfied. By eating sun energy, she needed less food. But then again she was pretty thin and since muscle weighs more than fat, she could probably absorb the sun more efficiently.

No. It gives you vitamin D.

But seriously, from what I've read, I suspect many people are vitamin D deficient...and it's an incredibly cheap supplement...and there aren't any negative side effects (that I'm aware of) for taking a reasonable dose...so in the whole cost-benefit analysis, it makes sense for me to take it.

Will it have amazing effects on your weight loss? Almost certainly not.

Edit: to change to "incredibly cheap" from "relatively cheap". Seriously, this stuff is <$20 for a 6-12 months supply (depending on how you dose it).

I live in Seattle - we have no sun. I take Vitamin D - it has no effect on my weight.

And I live in Florida, where we have an abundance of sun year-round. I definitely don't worry about vitamin D deficiency, but I can assure you that the population here proves it takes more than vitamin D to keep you slender!
