Not looking what I weigh!

Seriously guys, I really appreciate all of this! You make me feel much better about having a higher weight than others of my same size. I was always questioning myself, not feeling that I looked the same. But you guys honestly helped me feel like that cookie cutter image is just that. A rigid idea of how women my height SHOULD look, not how I or those like me really do. I'm just gonna run and lift weights everyday because I enjoy it and just do what feels good0

I'm a litlte confused as to why this bothers you. I wish I had your problem. I have naturally wide hips, small boobs and do not have natural muscle, so even at my lightest, I think that I tend to look like I weigh more than people who weigh a lot more than me. I'm currently 5'4" and 121 pounds and still close to a size 10 in pants, but on the flip side I'm a small or extra small in tops. On average, I think that people who are 50 pounds heavier than me at my height are a size 10.0

This has always driven me nuts! I weighed 141.5 as of 11/1, yet everyone claims I cannot simply weigh that much! Yet the scale claims such a weight! I just hate the BMI index because doctors always say "You don't seem too overweight, but this says you are!" Now, I'm no doctor, but if I don't look like I weigh 141, then why yell at me? Maybe it's muscle! My mother always got told by the Red Cross there was no way she weighed the min. 110 to give blood, and she was always 125 or more. I assume since I inherited her thyroid issues I more than likely got her body make-up, but it just irks me. I don't feel like I'm overweight, and I know BMI is not very trustworthy, but whyyy do doctors insist on following this so intently while telling me I look fine...
And FYI, I'm 5'2". I know 141 at that height is high, yet I get told I look like I weigh no more than 135-130
Don't worry about it. You're at a perfectly healthy weight and if you look and feel good then that's all that matters. Most competitive athletes would fall in the overweight category in BMI and they're not fat. I tend to ignore BMI and I would ignore the DR who is telling you you're overweight! They put too much stock in BMI when it's not what's important. You look amazing btw.0 -
i know the feels :P the reason for the way that you look is two things.
1) the way that you carry the weight
2) the density of muscle is MUCH higher than that of fat resulting in it weighing more but being physically smaller like a lead ball and a feather, a feather is big where as a lead ball is small and heavy. i can go on about this but i really hoped i helped hun
good luck

Screw them.... I am 6' tall, I currently weigh 210.2 pounds and the "charts" say I am still only 9.8 pounds under obese....0

I think different people also focus on different parts of the body. I am very much a spoon/pear shape and usually wear size small tops (even despite gaining a couple inches in my waist in the last three years), but have large hips/thighs (size 12 at the moment, and I've never been under a size 10 at my adult height). People who are used to overweight people carrying more weight in their stomachs don't always realize that I'm overweight (or, when I wasn't, didn't realize I might need a larger climbing harness, etc), but people who are leg-focused have sometimes seen me as overweight even when I was in a healthy range for my height.0
