Broken HRM?

I have a Beurer PM25 heart rate monitor - never had any problems with it apart from it take a little while to warm up enough to pick up my heart rate...but when it gets going it's fine.

Today I started training - HIIT interval training, 20sec running on 10 incline at 12km 10 secs off, and repeat. Usually do that for about 10-15mins and its enough to get me to my max heart rate.

Today I got on and it got stuck at 120bpm. I kept going for about 5-6 mins and it stayed at 120 so jumped off, came inside (i have a home gym in my garage) and the heart rate changed down to 99 immediately. After a few mins it seemed to be working fine again so went back out, started my HIIT, did about 3 mins and this time it was stuck on 114bpm. Came inside, been sat down for about 10mins and its been stuck at 99bpm the whole time.

The only thing I think that could be affecting it is the cold but now i'm inside it still appears to be stuck? Any suggestions/quick fixes? I know monitoring my heart rate isn't essential but I really like to know how I'm improving....and I don't want to have to buy another HRM if this can be sorted easily.

Wet enough on skin contact? Battery? Interference from other stuff?

My polar ft60 does that all the time. I can be stuck on 189 for 30 mins.... even when walking slow. Other times I hit 51 while running...... it can stay like that for 20 mins.

It's at that point I give up.

At risk of sounding like a complete moron i just took it off, gave it a good scrub, put it back on and it worked fine. Guess all my nasty grease and germs clogged it up somewhat (ew)

Will be getting new batteries though just in case it is the sign of something worse to come.

    Cheers for the help!
