Too Tired to Work Out-Any Suggestions?

I have had a Vitamin Deficiency and have been extremely TIRED. I work an insane amount of hours per week as well. I know all of this sound like excuses although I am EXTREAMLY exhausted and cannot work out as much as I would hope to. I decided about 3 months ago to just change my diet and eat "really" clean. I ended up losing 15 lbs. doing that. I feel off the wagon and gained back 5 lbs.:( I was wondering if there are any suggestions of a way to incorporate exercise into my life and not completely wear myself out until after I get over how fatigued I am. I feel like part of the reason I feel off the wagon would be because I hit a plateau and got depressed about it.

You will probably find that exercise makes you LESS tired. Look up the C25K programme. You can get great apps for it too. Tell yourself you'll just exercise for 5,minutes- you'll probably find that when you get going- you'll do more.

I have MANY excuses for not exercising but the bottom line is I don't like it!! I tried jogging and that wasn't bad but I have a bad knee after a week it was so sore I could barely walk and it took 5 weeks for it to get better. Walking is boring - although I do walk my dog a couple times a day. I did go to the Y several years ago and really liked that but with my work schedule (I get up at 5 - leave at 6:30 and most night don't get home until at least 7) I just don't have the time or energy. My solution was an exercise bike in the family room. i can get some exercise and read a book or watch some tv at the same time. I keep seeing an eliptical/exercise bike machine and am thinking of trading up to that - you can stand up -which I understand is a great workout - or sit down on the seat and use it like a bike.. Checking one of those out today!!

I am low in iron and d which leaves me always tired. Add six day work weeks and having minimal cerebral palsy which means I tire out super fast and am low tone. I feel your pain. I just suck it up and go. I will yawn my whole way through weights sometimes and fall asleep with my shoes still on when I get home. Some days are brutal. But I keep my gym bag with me and no matter what go after work.

How much are you eating? What are your macros?

Also, what were you doing for workouts before? Try the caffeine or some carbs about 30-60 minutes before a work out. Tends to help me on days that I forget my lunch but still need to workout right when I get home, usually eat a handful of almonds or some toast with PB and drink some black tea. :)

the only thing better than a cup of espresso for quick energy is weight lifting

sometimes i make plans to go out with friends on friday evenings and i'm usually SO tired by then. i find that going to the gym and doing 30-45 minutes of weight training before i go home to get ready really help perk me up and i stay energized longer than if i would have taken a power nap or had coffee

Find something you LIKE to do and stick with that. Take some vitamins. But the best advice i think, is just get up and start. you'll be happy, proud and feel accomplished once its over. The hardest part is just starting! Good luck!

May I suggest Yoga as a form of exercise which is designed to energise rather than tax the body. Yoga will work both on a muscular level and on all the energy centres of your body (yoga calls them the chakras), which is what your body appears to be asking for.

This - hope you are eating enough of the right things! - but also, get your blood checked if you haven't! Get everything checked, really..
