Calorie limit reducing as I lose weight?

Why does the caloie limit reduce as your loose weight... surely I don't use any less calories to breath in and out... I'm still trying to loose weight at the same rate. My husband is skeptical about me eating only 1350 calories a day when I first started using MFP I was on 1470. I'm trying to loose 1.5 lbs a week (according to my input to mfp) and I never loose quite as much as it calculates.

Hey you, I'm on a 1200kcal a day regime... I haven't lost anything in pounds yet but more in inches which is good. It is however annoying and unclear why I haven't lost any kilos yet. I have been on this for about 2 weeks now. I guess you will just have to keep going with your 1350kcal a day as well and change will happen in the long term :-) We mustn't give up! Have a great weekend0

The less of you there is the fewer calories it takes to fuel you.0

You need less calories to function as there is less of you when you LOSE weight. If you want to eat more put your pounds per week to 1 instead of 1.5 per week.0

If you carry a 20 lb weight around, would you burn more calories? That is essentially what is happening with your weight loss. Also, when most people lose weight, they also lose some muscle, less muscle means you do burn less calories just breathing. Additionally, since you aren't very far from your goal, you should be aiming to lose weight. At this point, you should aim to lose 1 lb per week and if you work out, then eat 50% of those calories. The closer to your goal ,the more you have to fuel your body as your fat stores aren't as big.0

Think of how much more gas it takes to drive a Hummer vs a SUV vs a subcompact. They all take different amounts of fuel to operate. I'm doing 1350 cals a day too and take MFPs projected weight loss with a grain of salt. There are so many variables including amount of activity, accuracy in logging and your base metabolism. Congrats on your weight loss so far!0
