I'm sure this has been asked so many times before, but how many calories should I add on for breastfeeding? Baby is now 6 months and we have begun weaning, so I thinking it would now be less than 500? I have been eating anything and everything up until now, but now I'm so sick of feeling like this, time to take my body back into control! I lost 35 pounds on mfp prior to getting pregnant, sticking to 1200 cals per day. What do you think..... 1600? 1700? She isnt a huge eater!

I learned that 1 oz of breast milk uses up about 20 calories. I exclusively pumped so I always knew how much I was producing and how much Kiddo was drinking. By 6 months I had dropped to 3 pump sessions a day and was producing about 25 oz a day. So 500 calories? At her peak, she was taking 40-45 oz of milk a day. Of course, that's before we introduced cereal and vegetables.0
