Thoughts on Sensa?

I'm a waitress and had a customer bring in Sensa, you know, the new diet powered you sprinkle on your food and it's supposed to make you lose weight without actually trying? Supposedly he said in the past 6 months he had lost 80 pounds without changing his eating habits and only occasionally working out. I read the ingredients, there's nothing in it. I'm just curious what peoples thoughts are on it. I'm thinking its all a placebo effect.

Are you talking about Senna? Senna basically gives you diarrhea. I have had to take it ahead of a colonscopy to ensure my stomach was empty. After taking lots of it, severe diarrhea, and not eating for 2 days, it made no difference on my weight loss journey.
Just don't do it. There is no magic pill.0 -
If it seems too good to be true, it probably is0

There has been a class action lawsuit against this company for false advertising and marketing claims not backed by scientific proof.0

placebo effect.0

^ agreed, placebo effect. My mother insisted on trying it, but nothing lol. I did notice that she subconsciously changed her eating habits. She would put less on the plate without even realizing.0

No, it's called Sensa. It's some powder you sprinkle over your food. Try googling it. I'd never take it, I'm not into diet pills, I was just wondering if anyone had thoughts on it.0

Changing your eating habits your own self is FREE! :bigsmile:0

There was a thread about this today.
I wish it were the miracle cure for a lifetime of bad eating habits, but I don't believe it.0 -
My local GNC store told me it has worked for a lot of people. I mentioned that my Nana wanted me to get it & I had told her that if it was that easy that no one would be fat & they told me it has worked for a lot of people. I'm still going to pass0

A few people I know tried sensa and what it does is it makes your food taste nasty so you wont want to eat anymore of it. So you make a plate of food and sprinkle it on and then eat. The more you eat the worse it tastes and you lose your appetite and end up dumping your food in the trash. They have it for different foods. Everyone who I know who tried it ended up returning it for their money back.0

Yes, wisdom for sure. And if everyone had your common sense, there wouldn't be a market of gullible consumers willing to buy their useless product. The GNC folks are just trying to rack up more sales.0 -

After seeing the commercial once, I can't imagine it being the "real deal". I couldn't even believe it was a real commercial!0

I admit I tried it. I bought it at GNC so I wouldn't be on their mailing list. I gave it a good two months before I formed an opinion. My verdict?
Crock of $^&). It didn't necessarily make my food taste gross, but I did not notice any difference in my appetite or how much I ate. And most importantly, my weight did not change one bit. Plus I felt like a dork sprinkling it on my food.
Increasing my activity and eating better/less made the difference.
One would have more effect by sprinkling some distasteful seasoning on their food (too much pepper, cilantro, or whatever one DOESN'T like).0 -
And you will notice there is an ad at the bottom of the page for this stuff "FREE" as we read . . . Yep! you will lose -- money that is!
Spend wisely - save more for the things you really can eat to be healthy . Is amazing though what some people will deem as magic and spend $$ on!
:glasses: Keep cool!0 -
This just seems wrong on so many levels. First off, anything that chemically "tricks" your body or mind into anything is probably not a good thing. People rail on the evils of MSG that in effect tricks you into thinking sh1tty food tastes good. This seems to be just the opposite? Still can't be a good thing.
More abhorent to me is the thought that we need to make food taste nasty in order to not want to eat as much so we can lose weight. I love good food. I love to cook good food and I love to eat good food. That's a big part of the reason I'm fat but I wouldn't want to live a life that didn't include cooking and eating good food. What I have found to be a healthier method is to still prepare excellent food but find ways to do it that are healthier than the traditional methods. That way I still have my creative outlet in the kitchen, I still get the joy of providing my family and friends with mind blowingly delicious food, and I get to eat stuff that I actually enjoy.
A healthy relationship with food doesn't mean that you think food tastes like sh1t and only eat because you have to or you'll die.0 -

I have wanted to try it but my problem is snacking ... I can't exactly pour it on the reeses cup I'm about to indulge in. Do you think I would put it on all my meals so I stop snacking in between...?0
-
I think it is false advertising. If it were for real, there wouldn't be any obese folks in the world.0

GNC frustrates me so much. There's so much Good for Nothing Crap in there. Shameful0

Just eat a dog turd instead of a resse's cup. Same principal.0 -
The only sensa I know is the one with La in front if and they sell bras...0

My dimwit upstairs neighbor gets regular shipments of it. She's still fat.0

I've recently looked at a case study on the sensa sprinkles in my nutrition class, and the doctor who'd created it, has established treatments through taste and smell. The biggest point that I'd taken from it, is that without the change to lifestyle - diet, exercise, etc - that eating less of bad things, but only bad things, does not improve overall health, nor ensure that the weight will stay off once the sprinkles are no longer being utilized. This isn't the silver bullet for weight loss, and while it may change the amounts of food eaten, it will not guarantee that the weight loss will stay off.0

I've heard of it but never tried it.. using ephedra was enough for me ten years ago. Anything like this that might work, well, once you stop using it, guess what happens? Back comes the weight.
I agree with everyone, there is no magic pill, if there were everyone would be thin. It's a lifestyle change and hard work, not some magic powder that you sprinkle on your food to make it taste like a used diaper, so you throw it out.. waste of money and food! Senseless.0 -
I'm pretty sure it has msg in it. I decided I didn't want to take a chance with my health so I didn't buy it.0
