Nike Running Ap

Just been for my normal run but decided to use the Nike running ap on my i-pod to log my run. I normally log my run as 5.5 miles (using online maps to get distance) and a burn of 700+ cals. The ap told me that I had run 6.76 miles and burnt 871 calories (I had entered my hight and weight into the ap).
I cannot use a HRM due to blood pressure meds, so I always have to guess my calorie burn.
My query is, how reliable is the Nike ap for distance and calorie burn? should I stick with how I normally log my run or use the Nike data?
Cheers, I am off for a relaxing bath.

I don't find it very accurate on calorie burn.....but most calculators are just estimates and true counts are harder to determine. I wear an HRM, and it's not even 100% accurate. But Nike can be anywhere from 50-200 calories off my HRM.
As far as distance goes, it's usually pretty reliable - as long as you have a decent GPS signal (through 3G or 4G). If it's off, it's usually only by 0.10 of a mile - I run with a friend who also uses the app, and sometimes even though we start at the exact same time and run right beside each other the whole time, our distances can by off by 0.10. But never more than that.0 -
Ta. Not too worried about the calorie count, my main concern was the distance as I am running a lot further and faster than I originally thought if I go by the Nike ap.0

I found the Nike+ app to be the most accurate for me, depends on your GPS signal for outside use. Switching over to treadmill mode threw it off just a bit but you can adjust the mileage and after a few times of doing this it is accurate as the treadmill.
I dont use the calorie count on it as I use a HRM and they are within 20-25 calories of each other. Being on meds would only mean you have a new target HR to go by.0 -
Bump - still interested in any other opinions/experiences0

I use the Nike + app on my iPod nano which doesn't have GPS and uses my stride length from my height and weight stats and I find it really accurate whether on the treadmill or road. I run a route I know the distance of and its never out by anything more than a metre or 2.0

I use the Nike app along with my Garmin HRM with GPS watch and for the most part they are both very much in sync...Garmin tends to be about 5% less when it comes to distance but the amount is never big enough to take notice...from what i read, Garmin is the most reliable so following that Nike is within 5% accurate0

I started with Runkeeper but recently switched to Nike+ because I like it better. I still run both apps sometimes (have running friends on Runkeeper!), and they always match up on distance and pace for me.
Calorie burn varies - I always use my HRM, but always compare with what the app says just for fun. Sometimes the app shows a higher burn, sometimes lower, sometimes by a few hundred calories, sometimes, less than 50 - I don't know why!0 -
Update: Nike app is wrong
I walked my running route and Nike measured it as 0.7 miles less. Glad I did not eat back all my running calories :huh:0
