Grr

I fell of my diet a couple of weeks ago after my ex attacked me leaving me unable to excerise, anyway I went back to bootcamp. and my pt pushed me so hard I havent been able to excerise since, I work fulltime and i have child, he has unrealistic goals for me, I only wanna lose 1/2-1lb a week any more is benefit, I dont wanna/cant be tired in my job as basically i was high risk of getting hurt because i was so sore. I am really motivated but I dont wanna do it quickly. is that bad?

  • If you don't take your time and lose at your pace, you are likely to gain back more then you lost to begin with. I am not always watching what I eat or exercising as regularly as I should either. Please don't beat yourself up. and I agree pt can be crazy with the expectations they have. Go easy at first, work yourself into it........

  • I think you need to tell this to your PT. He is working for you [you are hiring him and paying him] to help you achieve your goals. If he's training you for different goals than your own - which is sounds like he is - you are not getting your money's worth. Then there's the physical/mental safety aspect of it that seems very relevant based on what you wrote.

You need to tell him what you wrote on here, so that he can be aware that the way he is training you is not good for you and so that he can work with you in a way that WILL get you to your goals.

And if that fails, get a new PT, or do it without one.

I definitely agree with the telling your pt. Personally I'm planning to take the 'slow and steady wins the race' approach with losing 1lb a week same as you. After all everything I've ever heard about weight loss is that the longer it takes to lose weight the more likely you are to keep it off. For me any workout that either makes me puke or leaves me too sore to move/work properly for several days is not worth it and not something I wish to put myself through. A little soreness is acceptable of course.
P.s. glad he's your EX after attacking you. I've been through it and staying strong is harder than people realise, but you can do it xx

I went to a PT who pushed me way too hard when I also was only a few months from having given birth (and it was a difficult birth), had a baby who didn't sleep, and was working (all of which he knew).

He put me off exercise for 7 years and my weight hugely ballooned. I didn't lose any weight working with him as it completely exhausted me and I was incapable of doing anything the rest of the time. My fitness didn't improve at all.

Pushing you to the point where you hurt yourself is way too far.

Either he pulls back or you stop seeing him.

I do quite a bit of exercise now, but I built up slowly and it is at my pace, and my fitness has improved hugely. I've lost 80lb this way so its clearly working.
