Make sure it's on hard floor, like tile, and not carpet, or otherwise it will say you weigh less than you do. I also step on my mine two or three times to make sure I get the same weight because it can sometimes be finicky, but is usually pretty accurate as it matches up with what my doctor weighs me as. Leave it in the same place, that'll be the best for accuracy, at least in my opinion. Hope that helps!

Most scales need to be on a flat surface. Is your bedroom carpeted? If not, then it's just the unreliability of the scale itself. That said, while the number may not be exactly correct, if you weigh at the same time of day every time, the trend should be accurate.

If it's on carpet, move it to a wood or tile floor.
