Need to regroup

Hi,
I've been feeling like I'm slipping away from MFP, so I really need to regroup and reaffirm my commitment to my lifestyle change. So many times in the past, I have been on health kicks that just a few weeks or months. This time, I wanted it to be different, and it has been. I've been on MFP since September. I have made healthy changes to my eating, water-drinking and exercise. So, it's been a 3-point program for me. And I've been getting results - slow, and steady, but hey, results are results. People can see the difference in me, and I feel great.

So, the last week or so, work and life have been getting in the way. Fighting a cold, work getting busy, husband is busy, too. I think one of my big problems is I haven't been sleeping well, so I think that is taking it's toll on me. I can blame my husband for this - his snoring is getting worse and worse. Once it wakes me up, I'm wide awake (and ticked off) in the middle of the night. We had a chat today about that, we'll see what happens.

So husband left tonight for a business trip until Friday. In one way, it's good, so maybe I'll be able to sleep. But I really need his help with getting the kids to and from school, and he is the cook in the house. So it's going to be a rough week. I'm really hoping to stick with my program and not fall into bad habits. Since I work everyday and will be picking up the kids, I'm worried about cooking healthy meals for dinner and fitting in exercise at the end of a long day.

Sorry this is so long, but I figured I need to get this out there and recommit myself. Wish me luck this week. I'll need MFP more than ever! Thanks to everyone for being here, sharing your struggles and successes!! I don't post much, but I read a lot.
Take care,
Kathy

Hang in there honey!!! You CAN and WILL do this!!! Just stay strong and give yourself some credit :) Sounds like you've done amazing so far! It's okay to stray a little as long as you come back after a "slip-up". You are a strong woman and you have complete control of this. Let it empower you :)

Stay focused ... you can do it! Also, maybe try this week to get to bed a little sooner so you can get up earlier to do your workout before work. I have a hard time working out after a full time job, plus it makes my day better, more energenic!

Stay tough! you can do it
  • Kath,

I ask this question. Does your husband need to join MFP? If he is a huge snorer it is typically because they are overweight. I was one of those people. My wife dealt with it for years. Finally about 1 year ago she finally moved out onto the couch. It made me miserable. I couldn't help it. So last June I agreed to do a sleep study and found I was suffered from sleep apnea. They put me on a CPAP machine that has ended the snoring. Period. Done. Gone. My wife has been back in the bed with me and we are both getting the sleep we require.

Now I hope that when I finally lose the weight, my snoring will decrease so I can come off of the CPAP machine. In the meantime, it allows me to get a great nights sleep. That is the key to being able to perform at your best day in and day out.

Thanks, everyone!! I really appreciate the support!! :flowerforyou:

And thanks for the idea of working out in the morning. I already get up at 5:30... will have to think about backing that up. It would be great if I could get it out of the way in the morning. We have a stationary bike in our bedroom, would be easy to hop on for 20 minutes.

Yes, husband could stand to lose 20-30 pounds and he knows it. He even knows that is probably contributing to the snoring. Thanks for sharing your experience. I made a real plea with him today to think about what he is willing to try to solve this problem. I just want him to try - so far, he has done nothing but say "I can't help it." I know he can't help it, but it doesn't help me in the middle of the night when I'm wide awake. :grumble:

Anyway, I'm headed to bed, hoping to get a good night sleep. Thanks again!!
