Fat Cals vs burned cals

My elliptical machine has two calorie settings in the display, one is fat calories and the other says burned calories. I am unsure of which would be closer to my actual calories burned. I want to be sure I am recording the correct amount of calories in my daily diary. Any thoughts on which number is more accurate?

Calories, for sure. Those "fat calories" and "fat burning zone" settings on machines are just a gimmick. There is no way any gym machine can tell you how much fat you're burning at any given time.

....or just aim to continually improve. The calories aren't really that deep.

My head just exploded. I can't address this post after watching the Bears lose tonight. I'm gonna get a strike for sure.

For the love of everything holy, no, just NO. Losing weight has very little to do with calories burned. And what little correlation there is does NOT require a HRM. One day people will realize that trying to track exercise progress by using calories burned makes as much sense as trying to figure out how fast your car is traveling my sniffing the exhaust pipe. Besides for being inefficient and inexact, ***there's a better way to do it that's right in front of you***

??Sorry the Bears Lost!! However weight loss due to calories burned is significant in the end goal.

Thanks for the feed back, I was doing some research and again I just want ballpark numbers to use so I know I am doing enough. The reason I question is because the drastic difference in the numbers. after 20 minutes fat calories are at about 100 and calories burned are at about 200. I am not using it as an exact number but there is a big difference in the numbers after an hour. A 500 calorie difference is relevant to daily dietary logging.
