Buffalo Wings - 80-100 calories PER WING!

Just learned this today... I would never have guessed the calories in wings were that high. Heck, I can polish 10 of them in a sitting EASY. That's 1,000 calories right there! (I had 6 today before logging them and making this discovery).

I like them but I can live without them. I think I'll pass on them for a LONG time to come. if I'm craving them, maybe I'll just put chicken breasts in hot sauce - will basically taste the same!

Oh yes, buffalo wings. Frightening, isn't it?
And then add a few pints of beer.
    And YOWSA.

I would assume this is the breaded nasty buffalo wings?

Try the Naked Tenders if you're at BWW. The sauce is still a bit high calorie, but the meat itself is much more lean and still good.

Aww man. Thanks for the post! They finally opened a BWW near where I live, and I was stoked on it. Not so much any more : /

    Hi Paxbfl,

That had me laughing because I had logged wings the other day for the first time since joining MFP and was in the same shock. They're so LITTLE and I swear I'm constantly fighting to get the actual meat on that stick. To see it is that much per wing just baffled me too.

Instead of coming here I vented at work. No sympathy there but I felt the same pain you did and need to tell the world.

    They were good wings though.

Unfortunately just naked wings are like 100 calories each so no not just the breaded ones. All of them are pretty high calorie. You're eating the skin as well so it's higher in fat. :/

I am NOT saying they are good for you, but if you use drumettes and bake them instead of deep fry, then toss in something like a franks red hot buffalo sauce, each "wing" is more like 50-60 calories each. Again, not health food by any stretch, but not quite the calorie buster of the original kind. I had them during the game yesterday and they are tasty. Oh and yes, using boneless breasts the same way is even "better" for you.

    Again, everything in moderation.

Oh, yeah. Boneless skinless sliced into tenders, "breaded" with some Panko and pecans, seasoned with a drop of hot sauce and dipped in light Ranch.

Makes sense. I wasn't thinking about the skin. (ew lol)

So you really would be better off just getting a skinless, nonbreaded, chicken breast or tender and dipping it into some buffalo sauce.

I'm actually a (not very strict) vegetarian but oddly, I love wings and have a hard time saying no to them. My friend makes some killer wings but I know she always buys skinless.

Nature's Tofu puffs with crystals hot wing sauce = delicious vegan treat and about 100 calories for 3. You have to watch the sodium in the sauce though. I have no desire for chicken but I do love hot sauce and this has the whole protein + hot sauce combo.
