Brand of Treadmill

Would like to buy a treadmill and a little overwelmed with the choices. What treadmill brand do you have and do you like it? I don't want to break the bank, so maybe $1000.00 or under. Just starting out and winter is coming here in the Northeast, otherwise I would walk/jog outdoors. Looking to start C25K. Thanks.

I've got a Pacemaster Silver (made in USA) it's a bit higher than the budget you've mentioned but we've had it close to 10 years and it's been punished and comes back for more......I haven't used it much for the last couple of years as I'm running outside all year 'round now but the kids are still piling on the miles.

Mine is kind of old but I started C25K on it and I have ONE week left. :) It's a proform that I bought at Sears several years ago. What I'd look for in one is a cushioned deck, a fan and a shelf to at least put your laptop, ipad or phone on. I watched movies on my laptop for hours while I walked last winter and it was great as time flew by. Also a cup holder for a water bottle and place to hang a handtowel. One that folds up is nice too and they are easier to move around.
Good luck, I hope you find one you like and I hope you get more responses to your question!

run outdoors...use a public gym for those days when it really is too awful to be outside!

I have a nordictrack treadmill with a tv screen. I have had it for about 6 years now...never a problem with it. I use it, and also my daughter. Good luck

I have a Sole treadmill. I bought it at Sears a few years ago. I love it and it is super sturdy. It is heavy (275 pounds) and hard to move, just to let you know. I would suggest going to Sears or a sporting goods store and trying out a few.

We have the Smooth Fitness 6.75, and I love it though it's out of your price range.

Look on Craigslist. People often get rid of their exercise equipment super cheap and often almost never used.
  • I have a reebok. Had it for 7 years. The fans burned out on it but I haven't had a single problem with the motor. I'm very happy with it. I've done long runs up to 12 miles on it which sucks big time but the machine was able to handle it. Look for something with a longer belt for running and one with continuous horsepower.

Once you figure out what you want, maybe look for a used one! I'm not sure if they have Play it Again Sports near you, but cragslist is another option.

Costco has some listed for under $1,000. I don't have any experience with those treadmills, but Costco's liberal return policies (if you don't like it, you can return it without too much hassle other than repackaging) may make it worth a try.

Although my recommendation is above your price point I highly recommend anything landice... they have a lifetime owner's warranty on treadmill frame & parts and wear items. You get what you pay for. I have had mine for over 10 years and use it 3 - 5 times a week and absolutely NO issues whatsoever!

Check out this buyer's guide: http://www.smoothfitness.com/buying-guides/treadmill-buying-guide.htm?gclid=CIrg2YzqybMCFYKPPAodbwcA1Q

For Christmas maybe you ask for $ contributions for your new treadmill? I would definitely contribute $ to a family member if they wanted something like this!

If there are any gyms in your area, you could ask about taking an old treadmill off their hands, provided it still works.
