Question for the runners

I've been running more in the last month or two. When I would run it would only be for a mile maybe a mile and half. I've recently worked up to being able to run 3-5 miles straight. I have noticed a pain in my right leg, it goes from right under the calf down to the ankle. It's a really tight feeling. I stretch and have good form when I run (or so I think). What is this pain and how can I make it stop? The pain normally only comes on after the second mile and goes away a couple hours after running. Thanks for any help or tips.

Hi, I use to run Half Marathons and trained with coaches..Hopefully I will get back to that. They told me If I was running up to 5 miles..And had calf pain or tightness..Do my calf stretching 1 mile into my run...Then continue running..Also..Sneakers. I suggest go to a running store..even if you dont buy the sneaks and have the look at your foot..and the way you run..maybe you have the wrong shoe..#3 after 200 miles on a sneaks was told to get new one...I went to running store..got fitted and then after that would find the same shoe online and cheaper...Good luck..Happy running

I agree with getting fitted at a running store and making sure that is not an issue. Also, foam rollers can be very useful in stretching out tight muscles. Make sure you're warmed up before you do any stretching as you can actually make your muscles tighter if you try to stretch them cold. If the pain persists, go to a doctor.

Thanks ladies. My current running shoes don't have nearly 200 miles on them. But I think I will go get fitted for running shoes. I will also try out stretching after my first mile and see if that helps.
