A case of the sads

I have a tendency to go on little spurts of extra physical activity and watching what I'm eating. I'm always aware of what I'm eating and exercise 3+ days a week but sometimes I just care less. It seems to me when I'm getting back into the "caring more" part of my roller coaster I go through a serious case of the sads in the beginning. I'm not sure if its because I'm cutting back those extra calories or my body is tired from the extra working out or what.
Does this happen to anyone else? Everyone always says that they "feel so much better after eating properly!" and "they have so much energy!" And it seems I'm quite the opposite.
