Why should you eat the same meals?

I've come across a lot of articles and stories from what others have done, that all revolve around the idea that eating the same meals everyday, or at least most of them, makes weight loss more successful. Why is this? Is it simply because, by eating the same meals, keeping track of calories becomes incredibly easier...or that in doing so, you can plan ahead better to make sure you are on track with calories and macronutrients? OR is there an actual science behind eating the same foods a lot - like does your body metabolize foods that it frequently receives better - I don't know if that seems stupid, I was just curious!

I don't see how that would work at all. You would get very bored just for starters.
Plus it's good to mix it up a bit. I used to eat pretty much the same things every day on Slimming World (one reason I gave it up) and then every now and then I'd plateau, try a few different meals, and lose the weight again.0 -
I've never heard that before.
Now, I know that it can be very hard to meet all the nutritional targets within MFP, so I can understand that if someone has finally solved that particular Rubik's Cube that they might want to repeat a successful day. But usually, variety is required to make sure you get all the range of vitamins and minerals that your body needs over time.0 -
There's no science behind it. it just makes it easier & simpler to stick to your plan while keeping your ideal macros and to get into a routine.0

I eat the same thing for breakfast almost every day, and it cuts the hassle of figuring it out, when I make dinner for the family (and also eat that dinner, often I make my own) it's annoying cause those dinner portions are next to impossible to get the exact calorie count.0

Pretty much this.
The less variables you have to worry about the easier it is to be successful or identify what the cause of a problem (such as a plateau) may be....0
