Hey, I'm Derek.
I've had a lot of unexpected free time recently and decided I could use it to shape myself up a bit. Currently weigh around 145 but could definitely thin up a bit/gain some muscle. I used to run on a daily basis, lifting occasionally, but after starting a new job that left me tired all the time, I pretty much stopped exercising entirely and ate junk/fast food because it was simple and convenient.
Actually, that pattern reoccurs more than I'd like to admit: get very into getting healthy, do so for several weeks and reap benefits, get distracted/bored/busy and just fall back to a less-than-ideal state. It's my hope that this daily tracking site will keep me focused and motivated!
I live in Columbia, MO and dig running through the cul-de-sacs and neighborhoods around me. Recently I've been using trial memberships at local gyms to hopefully find the right one for me so I can expand my fitness regimen. Also, for the first time in my life, I've taken a greater interest in actually cooking real meals instead of things that are microwave/toaster/oven-ready. Been saving a lot of money, eating healthier, and (most importantly) trying new delicious recipes.
Well, here's to sticking with it and feeling better about myself and my health.
