Drinking your own urine for health benefits

No, I don't myself (nor anyone else's, lol).
I remember it being talked about as a health benefit on TV years ago (in the UK) with some historical background, and just recently have come across a few actual practitioners who in the course of fairly ordinary conversation take this for granted and say things like: "if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown, chuck it down" etc.
So while I politely refused the offered glass (of beer) from the bloke I was talking to "Excuse me, where else might you have been dunking that moustache?" as I of course didn't say...
I wondered how common a practice this is?

I hear some people like that kind of thing.0 -
You gotta be s**tting me...oh wait, that's another subject.0

This lady from My Strange Addiction does. Erm. Ew.
EDIT: sorry for the pic.0 -
No never heard of this . What health benefits could it be??0
-
Not sure about this, because urine and feces are waste products that are eliminated and flushed from your body via natural processes. I would say NO, drink more water, less beer.:drinker:0

*EDIT*
OMG why are there pictures?? :sick:0 -

I couldn't even imagine doing this, but it is not as strange as it sounds. There are actually quite a few athletes who do this. Former UFC champion Lyoto Machida drinks his urine.0

I seriously just threw up in my mouth a little. Why?!0

“Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.”0

haha oh gawd saw this on my strange addiction, so bizarre lady used it literally for everything0

I don't know either - I think waste product, flush it. Really weird to talk to people who totally take it for granted - we were talking about something utterly unrelated and then out of this conversation it appeared that three of the group do this all the time and the others were totally unfazed.
Just googled and found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TF_UV8UXsTI0 -

Gross. No way.0

Ew, ew, ew. The only time to drink urine would be if you were trapped and risking dehydration otherwise. People have survived by doing this. Other than that urine could be used to set dyes a long time ago or something, but ew.0

So glad others feel the same way - I felt a little trapped among aliens earlier, lol0

I've heard of it before because I have friends who lived in India.
I've also heard of bathing psoriasis in aged urine.
An aunt from Ireland used to wipe her face with her baby's wet diapers. She said it was great for the skin, and she did have great-looking skin.
But ewwwwwwwwwwwww!0 -

"if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown *flush* it down"
That's not a urine-drinking reference, it's what certain people say when it comes to how often they should flush the toilet.
EDIT: For typos, whoops!0 -
I'm a medical technologist and do urine and blood testing. Urine is full of some nasty stuff that your kidneys filter out of your blood. So, no thank you.0

Umm..(sorry for TMI) in this particular context it meant drink at least some of the yellow stuff and otherwise make use of it (i.e.keep it for various purposes), and dispose of the brown solids, not everyone having flushing systems but maybe earth closets or whatever.0 -

Urine contains urea. Urea is a great moisturiser, and probably explains her great skin.0 -
Isn't that phrase about flushing the toilet? I don't think its about drinking anything..0
