I am a hungry bear!

While everyone else is worrying about starvation mode, I think I’ve gone into hibernation mode.
I swear, every winter my body goes into this crazy bear mode where all I want to do is be fat and hairy, and lie around the house, growling at anyone who disturbs me. The past few weeks I feel off MFP because there’s no counting the massive amount of bread and cookies I’ve been consuming. My body wants refined carbohydrates and sugar – now!
I blame it on being raised in a cold climate. Once the weather starts to cool down, it seems like I want richer, starchier foods and a few extra pounds of body fat to keep me warm. What scientific evidence do I have? None, but as we all know that’s not required on MFP.
So, does anyone else have this problem once the weather changes? Do you adapt like me and gorge yourself on Nutella crepes and chili, gain about 5 pounds, and worry about it in the spring? Or do you muscle through the cravings and try to keep your sexy body all the way until next bikini season?

i kind of know what you mean. Although for me its just there is more temptation this time of the year! What with christmas coming there are lots of times to socialise, buy food at christmas markets etc. I always gain weight from end of october till about january! This year i'm trying to resist though!
If you're only gaining about 5lbs over this period then why the hell not!If you know you get like this every year then work it into your diet cause only then can you maintain it in the long run. if you deny yourself all this, once you've finished losing weight you might find you slip into old habits and gain more back when you're maintaining. You could try to eat less, or eat healthier versions of the stuff you crave.
but if its only 5lbs you have to deal with in the spring then i say go for it [in moderation of course!] but thats only because after gaining some weight i always seem to lose my first 7lbs very easily. haha

Fellow bear here, all I want is snuggle under the duvet, watch tv and eat all the chocolate, bread and cheese on the planet!! Managed to resist a total melt down so far, but it seems to get trickier by the day. Not helped by having given into temptation of buying gingerbread and nougat (the insanely delicious french kind) just because it's xmas at some point this year, thinking I can just have a tiny amount of it .... hmmmmm. Maybe it's best to skip the eating and go straight into hybernation until spring, ignoring xmas and winter altogether?0

Hahah!! Too funny!
Anndd I'd say I feel the exact same way!! However, I fight through the cravings! I hate cold soooo much, all I wanna do is throw on some sweats and just veg out. Maybe it's the start of No Shave November that does this to us?Meh...not giving up this year!

Yeah, I do seem to do this EVERY YEAR, and I always lose the extra few pounds pretty easily in the spring. I'm not going to worry about it. So, cookies tonight anyone?0
