Heart Rate monitor - do you deduct TDEE from the count?

Just wondered... so we all have TDEE if I excercise and my heart rate says I burnt "x" amount of cals in my 45 min work out - should I deduct what my TDEE is for the 45 mins before adding it on here?
So if I sat still for 45 Mins I'd burn 42 cals
but I went for a run and the heart rate says I burnt 500 cals in 45 mins
So really I burnt 458 extra..
I know its a bit extreme but I want to do this properly!

It may or may not be correct, dependant on the method of the HRM. However, with the errors and estimations used in weight loss calculations, it really is trivial, and you should consider following a set method for month or so and see if your calories need adjusting.0

It's not your TDEE you want to deduct, it's your BMR.
Work out your BMR using one of the online calculators.
If your BMR is 1400 for example, divide this by 24 to get your average calories burned per hour (i.e. 1400 / 24 = 58 cals per hour).
So if you've worked out for 1 hr and your HRM says you've burned 500 cals, the extra cals you've burned on top of what you'd normally burn by doing nothing is 500 - 58 = 442.0 -

So you take away the BMR, because the HRM doesn't use BMR in it's calculations?
Are sure you don't subtract the previously calculated energy expenditure of PAR x BMR that was used to calculate TDEE during the exercise time, then substitute the HRM reading?0 -

This. Keep in mind, most people don't. I didn't used to, but as I've lost more, I've tried to be more and more accurate with things. So I do deduct it now.0 -

So technically, you are double counting your BMR if you just record the calories on the HRM (most HRMs work this way, like my Polar, but I won't say all do since I don't know). My BMR is about 70 calories per hour. I used to only worry about it if my workouts were longer than an hour. Now I do it for any workout longer than 30 minutes, which is all of them LOL.0 -

I never used to but I started doing it about a month or so ago. I take off 1 calorie per minute. That being said, I don't track my exercise calories specifically so it's just more for my reference.0

That wasn't the question I was answering. The poster said that because they were sedentary, they didn't need to subtract BMR, which clearly they do. I personally don't worry about the 10 calories or so per hour that 'sedentary' gives me over my BMR. Especially since I don't know how accurate, over the course of day, that estimate is.0 -
Does the Polar not take into consideration your resting heartrate befor you start the exercise and then calculate your calorie burn over and above your resting heart rate?

I don't, because I think that the post-exercise increase in my metabolism probably burns the equivilant of my BMR.0
