I need some new kicks and was wondering to all the big runners out there. What are the best shoes to run in?

I don't know about the best but I like my New Balance 1012 - I'm bigger still and I love my 1012 - it's like running on clouds and it addressed some foot problems I didn't know I even had untill I wore them running.

It's personal preference. I love my Saucony's though. I have the Omni Proglide 10s....

Your best bet would be to go to one of the specialty shoe shops for Fitness/Runners and let them recommend shoes based on your feet, the type of excercise you will be doing, and how you stand/walk. Here, we have stores called "Run Fit Sports" that do exactly that. Word to the wise, the shoes they have in those shoes aren't for the faint at heart (or wallet) but they will hook you up with what you need.

The best ones are the ones that fit you well and are appropriate for your gait.

There is not "one size fits all" answer to running shoes. Best bet is to visit a running specialty store and have your gait analyzed and try on a variety of shoes to find the best fit within the appropriate subset .

Everyone has there favorites. It's New Balance for me. They fit the form of an average to narrow foot perfectly, they have just enough support without extra bulk, they are mid range price wise, and they usually look pretty cool.

Yeah, that's where I bought my shoes. I runners specialty store. They watched me walk and recommended three diffrent shoes so I bought the cheapest ones - they were still about $100.

My favorite shoe is totally irrelevant to you. Go have a professional watch you run and study your gait. And wear them in the store for a while. What feels good while you walk around for 3 minutes might feel totally different after running in them for a while. Take advantage as much as you can of that time in store to really test them out.

agreed with the rest. I went to a running store (local to me here in NC) and was put on a treadmill in about a dozen different pairs of shoes until I found some that felt perfect. I love my NB 1123, and have to go with motion control. I was about 60 lbs heavier when I bought them and may be going back in for a followup soon.

GO to a running store so that they can examine your gait. I supinate and have a high arch, so I need shoes that have more support on the outside of the heel, since that's the part of the shoe that gets more wear. I like saucony for brand also mizuno's are great, they are expensive so buying last year's model online save a couple of bucks
